Pop-Up Choir – Preparing for Lent
Thanks to all who participated in our inaugural Advent Pop-Up Choir! I hope that hearing our talented congregation members and friends lifted your spirit in the same way they lifted mine. It was truly a blessing to put together and I’m already looking forward to doing it again for Lent!
Before Lent, though, I need the help of the congregation. While I am very pleased with the success of our choir, I want your feedback to improve it. What pieces did you like? What did you not like? What advice might you have to improve how the choir integrates into the flow of a service? Any thoughts you might have about this choir would be very helpful to me before we look to cast a broad call for participants from all community members in the Lent choir.
On my end, there are already a few plans in motion to improve the accessibility and musical impact of the choir. First of all, to help those who want to join, but may have concerns about reading music – the practice parts that I upload to the web will include sung parts by me, not just the musical notes. Additionally, I plan to augment the choir with outside professional instrumentalists for Easter.
If you are someone who is interested in joining us for Lent, I’d love to know your availability and commitment beforehand. While it is not required for you to be available for all Sundays, knowledge of a roster I can expect will help me in my planning. We’re hoping to minister to and include more community members in this iteration; I’m looking for a strong support of congregation members to help show those who are new what it means to be a member of Little Fork.
2023 is going to be a great year for music at Little Fork. Thank you for all you do to support it!
