Prayers of the People July 17, 2022
These are the Prayers of the People that will be used during church this week. We encourage you to use them as part of your personal prayers this week.
For the desire to sit at Jesus’ feet, as Mary did, and learn from him; for the willingness to set aside, for a time, all the priorities that clamor for our attention.
Let us pray. Lord, have mercy.
For those of us who are more like Martha, help us use our gifts of service without obsessing or worrying.
Let us pray. Lord, have mercy.
For the mission of the holy Church of God, that it may be a beacon of light in a dark world; for our witness in our communities, that we may faithfully represent Christ, by our lives and our words, let us pray to the Lord.
Let us pray. Lord, have mercy.
For our Bishops, Rector and for all the clergy, that they may have wisdom to lead the Church according to your will.
Let us pray. Lord, have mercy.
For our President, for the leaders of the nations, and for all in authority, that they may govern with justice and concern for the disadvantaged.
Let us pray. Lord, have mercy.
For our communities—Culpeper, Warrenton and Amissville—and for those who live in them, that they would experience security, welfare and peace.
Let us pray. Lord, have mercy.
For our relationship with other faith communities, including Beulah Baptist Church and Bealton Baptist Church, that it may serve to deepen the bonds between our congregations, as we serve our communities together.
Let us pray. Lord, have mercy.
For the aged and infirm, for the widowed and orphans, and for the sick and the suffering, especially those on our church prayer list (please read the names of those on our prayer list), as well as those we now name either silently or aloud,
You are invited to share the names of other in need of comfort or healing.
Let us pray. Lord, have mercy.
For the poor and the oppressed, for the unemployed and the destitute, for prisoners and captives, and for all who remember and care for them.
Let us pray. Lord, have mercy.
For our own needs and those of others, as well the many favors you have shown us,
You are invited to add your petitions and thanksgivings
As the psalmist declared your goodness, let us give you thanks for what you have done, and will do.
Let us pray. Lord, have mercy.
For the grace to know you better; and to discern and do your will in all we undertake, that our works may find favor in your sight.
Let us pray. Lord, have mercy.
