Prayers of the People March 5, 2023
These are the Prayers of the People that will be used during church this week. We encourage you to use them as part of your personal prayers this week.
Please join in the prayers of the people. This morning’s response is “Hear us and answer us.”
Lord, we thank you for giving us new birth from above. We pray that your Holy Spirit will continue to mature us in our faith and walk with you.
Lord, we call to you. Hear us and answer us.
Lord, thank you for your promise to Abraham that through his descendants all the families of the earth would be blessed. Help us to extend that favor to our friends and neighbors through our lives and words. May they come to faith in your Son, Jesus Christ.
Lord, we call to you. Hear us and answer us.
Lord, we thank you that our help is from the Lord. Just as David looked to the mountains, may we look to the Blue Ridge Mountains as powerful reminders of your infinite power. We trust you to help us when we fall, to preserve us from evil, and to watch over us with your love.
Lord, we call to you. Hear us and answer us.
Lord, we pray for those who serve the worldwide Church, especially Justin our Archbishop, Michael our Presiding Bishop, Mark our Diocesan Bishop, Gayle our Assisting Bishop, Ted and Dabney our Visiting Bishops, Stacy our Rector, Jenks and Amanda, our supply priests, that they will guide your Church in wisdom and truth.
Lord, we call to you. Hear us and answer us.
Lord, we pray for countries broken by war, especially Ukraine, for peoples facing ethnic violence and hatred, especially in Afghanistan, for all who are being suffering from the losses of natural disasters, especially in Turkey and Syria. We thank you for all those who are sacrificing their lives to alleviate the suffering.
Lord, we call to you. Hear us and answer us.
Lord, at this time we offer you our requests and thanksgivings.
The congregation may add their prayers.
Lord, we call to you. Hear us and answer us.
Lord, we bring before you the aged and infirm, the widowed and orphans, the sick and the suffering. We pray for comfort and healing for those on our Little Fork Church Prayer List: (please read the first names on our prayer list). Please add the names of others who need comfort or healing.
The congregations may name others in need of healing or comfort.
Lord, we give you thanks for all who have remained faithful to you, for all who have seen beyond the temporary to the eternal, for saints and martyrs who have been our inspiration. Let us pray especially for (please read the first names, if any, on our church prayer list). At this time, please add the names of others who have died recently.
The congregation may add the names of others who have passed away.
May they be an example to us by their love and faith.
Lord, we call to you. Hear us and answer us.
