Prayers of the People May 7, 2023

These are the Prayers of the People that will be used during church this week. We encourage you to use them as part of your personal prayers this week.
The congregational response is “and have mercy upon us.”
Lord Jesus, as you comforted your first disciples saying, “Let not your hearts be troubled,” comfort us when we face uncertainties, difficult circumstances, or grief. Give us an assurance of your presence as we trust in you.
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon us.
We thank you for all who serve in ministry, especially our Diocesan Bishop, Mark, our Assisting Bishop, Gayle, our Visiting Bishops, Dabney and Ted, our Rector, Stacy, and our supply priests, Jenks, Amanda, and Kyle. May they, as well as all bishops, priests and deacons, be faithful in the preaching of your word and the administration of the sacraments.
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon us.
Heavenly King, guide those in authority over our nation, state and communities, especially our President, Joe, and our Governor, Glenn, that they would govern with justice, mercy and humility.
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon us.
Prince of Peace, we pray for people suffering from war, hunger and terrorism in Ukraine, Afghanistan, Yemen and Sudan.Protect them and provide for their needs. Use believers in those counties to love their neighbors through service and sacrifice.
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon us.
Lord, help us faithfully represent Christ in our communities of Culpeper, Warrenton and Amissville by our lives and our words. Guide us in our outreach to the disadvantaged, especially through Feed My Sheep. Direct us in the ways you want us to invest our resources of time, talent and money.
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon us.
Risen Christ, we praise you for the miracles you worked while on earth and throughout the ages. We trust you for your miracle-working power in our lives and in those who are suffering from illness, tragedy or persecution. We pray for protection, comfort and healing for those on our church prayer list (read the first names of those on our prayer list). Please add the names of others in need of protection, comfort or healing.
You are invited to offer the names of others in need.

Lord, as Stephen was martyred for your sake, strengthen those who are suffering for their faith in countries around the world.May their sacrifice serve to glorify you and cause the Gospel to spread.
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon us.
Living Savior, you said that you have already prepared a place for us in our eternal home. With all those believers who have passed on before us, we look forward to our home with you in glory. We pray for all who have already entered into your presence, especially (read the first names of those on our prayer list). Please add the first names of others who have died recently.
