Prayers of the People October 2, 2022
These are the Prayers of the People that will be used during church this week. We encourage you to use them as part of your personal prayers this week.
Please join me in the Prayers of the People. The congregational response is we put our trust in you.
Sisters and brothers, let us set our hope on God and pray to our God, saying, “God, our refuge and stronghold, we put our trust in you.”
We pray for your one holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. May we and your whole Church pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. We lift especially our bishops, priests and deacons including Susan and Jennifer, our bishops, Mark, our bishop-elect, Stacy, our rector and all serving in ministries.
God, our refuge and stronghold, We put our trust in you.
We pray for the leaders of this and every nation including Joe, our President, and Glenn, our Governor. Remind us that they are fallible human beings, fellow children of the earth. May they put their trust in you, even as we trust in you for our help.
God, our refuge and stronghold, We put our trust in you.
Creating God, you made heaven and earth, the seas, and all that is in them. Make us good stewards of your bounty, that there may be food enough for all who hunger and ways to produce energy that don’t damage our planet.
At this time please offer aloud any thanksgivings,
God, our refuge and stronghold, We put our trust in you.
Open our eyes to see the poor at our gates. Give us compassion for those suffering in our community. You, O Lord, care for the stranger; you sustain the orphan and widow. May our work reflect your heart. We pray for the continued engagement in our outreach, Feed My Sheep, that our bounty may help those in need.
God, our refuge and stronghold, We put our trust in you.
We pray for the sick and the dying. We lift to you all those in the medical field that they see their work as a ministry to others. Grant comfort and mercy to those who now experience suffering or illness. We remember those on our prayer list who are ill or in need of healing. (Read the first names of those on our prayer list)
At this time please offer, aloud, the names of any needing healing or comfort.
God, our refuge and stronghold, We put our trust in you.
We pray for those who have died. May all the departed find new life in the presence of their God, the one who alone has immortality and dwells in unapproachable light.
We remember those on our prayer list who have died or are grieving. (Read the first names of those on our prayer list)
At this time please offer, aloud, the names of any who have died or families who are grieving
God, our refuge and stronghold, We put our trust in you.
