Prayers of the People October 23, 2022
These are the Prayers of the People that will be used during church this week. We encourage you to use them as part of your personal prayers this week.
Please join in the Prayers of the People and the congregational response is Write it in our hearts.
Brothers and sisters, our help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. And yet, we can pray, saying, “Put your word within us, O God; write it on our hearts.”
We pray, O God, for the Church and its leaders. May we proclaim the truth and share the Good News. We pray for all bishops, priests and deacons especially our bishops, Jennifer and Susan, our bishop-elect. Mark, and our Rector, Stacy. Give your Church grace that each member may carry out his or her ministry fully.
Put your word within us, O God; Write it on our hearts.
We pray, O God, for all those who interpret and establish laws, especially judges. Give our leaders wisdom equal to their responsibilities, that they may serve the common good and promote justice throughout the world. We pray for our President, Joe, our Governor, Glenn, all judges at the local, state, and national level.
Put your word within us, O God; Write it on our hearts.
We pray, O God, for all of creation. In the beauty of hills and streams, we glimpse your majesty. In the wonder of sun and moon, we glimpse your power. May we pause to enjoy the beauty of the seasons as they change in our communities. May we be responsible in our care and protection of all you have given us.
Put your word within us, O God; Write it on our hearts.
We pray, O God, for the people of our community. May those who cry out for justice, see justice. May those who search for truth, find truth. May those who fear for their own safety, find their comfort and security in you. May those seeking shelter or who are without enough food find resources like the food banks in Culpeper, Rappahannock and Fauquier as well as the Feed My Sheep ministry.
Put your word within us, O God; Write it on our hearts.
We pray, O God, for the sick and the sorrowful. May those who call upon you for healing also find you to be their faithful healer. May we be reminded of the importance of lifting those who suffer or need healing in our daily prayers. We pray for those on our prayer list in need of healing, (Read the first names of those on our prayer list).
At this time the congregation may name aloud those in need of healing or comfort.
Put your word within us, O God; Write it on our hearts.
We pray, O God, for all who have died. May all those justified by your Son, Christ Jesus, be judged by him as faithful and good. We are grateful for the promise of eternal life given my Jesus’ death on the cross. We lift to you any in our community who have died. (Read the first names of those on our prayer list).
At this time the congregation may name aloud any who have died or are grieving
Put your word within us, O God; Write it on our hearts.
