Prayers of the People September 1, 2024
These are the Prayers of the People that will be used during church this week. We encourage you to use them as part of your personal prayers this week.
The congregational response is, “Have mercy upon us.”
Lord, we praise you for your wisdom, as expressed in your commandments. Help us not to elevate our traditions above your commands. Purify our hearts by your Holy Spirit, so that we may not be defiled by evil thoughts.
Lord, our Redeemer, have mercy upon us.
Good Shepherd, we pray for all who shepherd their flocks in the Episcopal Church, especially Bishop Curry, our Archbishop, Bishop Stephenson, our Diocesan Bishop, and Bishop Harris, our Assistant Bishop. May they seek your direction as they guide our denomination into the future.
Lord, our Redeemer, have mercy upon us.
We pray for our President, Joe, and Governor, Glenn, as well as all who govern in this and the other nations of the world, that they would do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with you.
Lord, our Redeemer, have mercy upon us.
We pray for our relationship with Beulah Baptist Church, as they celebrate Homecoming today. Heal the wounds caused by racial injustice and use our congregations to meet the needs of our area.
Lord, our Redeemer, have mercy upon us.
As we celebrate Labor Day, we trust you to encourage our members, and other local believers, who serve in counseling, medicine, welfare, government, law enforcement, emergency services, education, business and the trades. May their words and actions shine the light of Christ in their spheres of influence.
Lord, our Redeemer, have mercy upon us.
We commit to you the aged and infirm, the widowed and orphans, the sick and the suffering. We pray for comfort and healing for those on our Little Fork Church Prayer List (Read the first names of those on our prayer list). Please add the names of others who need comfort and healing.
You are invited to add the names of those in need.
Lord, our Redeemer, have mercy upon us.
We thank you for your saints who have entered into the joy of your presence, especially (Read the first names of those on our prayer list). Please name others who have departed this life.
You are invited to add the names of others who have died.
Give to the departed eternal rest; let light perpetual shine upon them; may we also come to share in your heavenly kingdom.
Lord, our Redeemer, have mercy upon us.
At this time, please share any personal requests or thanksgivings, remembering that our Lord promises to answer requests when two or three believers agree on earth about anything.
You are invited to add your prayers and petitions.
Lord, our Redeemer, have mercy upon us.
