Prayers of the People September 8, 2024
These are the Prayers of the People that will be used during church this week. We encourage you to use them as part of your personal prayers this week.
The congregational response is, “And graciously hear us.”
Lord Jesus, we praise you for your power to heal. Thank you that you cared about and healed outsiders—people not of the house of Israel. May we follow your example by caring for others. Help us fulfil our baptismal covenant by serving you in all persons, loving our neighbor as ourselves.
Lord, have mercy and graciously hear us.
We pray for all who have dedicated their lives to ministry. We pray for our Rector, Stacy, that you would guide her continually in her service to our congregation, and in her contributions to other organizations through Learning Forte.
Lord, have mercy and graciously hear us.
We give thanks for those who have protected us, who have shielded us from harm or evil, who have enriched our lives by their goodness. We pray for all upon whom our security depends—the police, EMT and the fire service, that you will strengthen and encourage them.
Lord, have mercy and graciously hear us.
We pray for leaders of the nations involved in conflict, suffering from injustice, or experiencing famine. Move the leaders to seek peace and justice, and raise up peacemakers, especially in Ukraine, Palestine, Sudan and Yemen.
Lord, have mercy and graciously hear us.
Lord, deepen our passion to meet the needs of the poor and neglected. Use our gifts through Feed My Sheep to help the needy in our communities. May those who receive help give you the glory.
Lord, have mercy and graciously hear us.
For all who have commended themselves to our prayers for safety, healing and comfort, especially (Read the first names of people on our prayer list). Please add the first names of others in need of comfort or healing.
You are invited to add the names of others in need.
That they may live in good health, joy and peace, we pray to You.
Lord, have mercy and graciously hear us.
For all who have died in faith, especially (Read the first names of people on our prayer list). Please add the names of others who have recently died.
You are invited to add the names of others who have died.
That, with all the saints, they may have rest in that place where there is no pain or grief, but life eternal, we pray to You.
Lord, have mercy and graciously hear us.
At this time, please add any personal requests or thanksgivings.
You are invited to add your petitions and thanksgivings.
Lord, have mercy and graciously hear us.
