Reflections on Bishop Curry’s Book – Mary Perry

Do we only receive information and testimony from people who look like us and sound like us?
If so, we are ultimately getting a less than truthful picture of the world.
We can be intentional in the stories we listen to.
Which stories are taking our time and attention?
It takes effort to read and hear stories of those who are not in our daily lives.
We are most fortunate to have family and friends who think differently from us.
Think about the consequences of communities where people simply reinforce each other’s preconceived notions and ideas.
When we don’t have any interchange with people who have differing points of view, slowly but surely the voices of the extreme become the norm.
The center, falls silent.
Here’s an idea for deeper dialogue from Bishop Michael Curry.
A good question to ask is, “What is the story of your life that brought you to that conclusion?”
