Prayers of the People April 28, 2024
These are the Prayers of the People that will be used during church this week. We encourage you to use them as part of your personal prayers this week.
The congregational response is, “And have mercy upon us.”
Lord Jesus, you are the vine that gives us spiritual sustenance. May we continually abide in you as you abide in us.
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon us.
God of Love, we can only love because you loved us first. Help us be faithful in loving you, our brothers and sisters in Christ, our neighbors, and even those who seem like our enemies.
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon us.
We thank you for all who guide the Episcopal Church and our Diocese, especially our Presiding Bishop, Michael, our Diocesan Bishop, Mark, and our Assisting Bishop, Gayle. May they seek your will for the direction of our branch of the Body of Christ.
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon us.
Heavenly King, guide those in authority over our nation, state and communities, especially our President, Joe, and our Governor, Glenn, that they would govern with justice, mercy and humility.
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon us.
Prince of Peace, we pray for people suffering from war, hunger and terrorism in Ukraine, Afghanistan, Israel and Palestine. Protect them and provide for their needs. Use believers in those counties to love their neighbors through service and sacrifice.
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon us.
Lord, help us faithfully represent Christ in our communities of Culpeper, Warrenton and Amissville by our lives and our words. Guide us in our outreach to the disadvantaged, especially through Feed My Sheep. Direct us in the ways you want us to invest our resources of time, talent and money.
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon us.
Lord, we trust you for your healing power in our lives and in those who are suffering from illness, tragedy or persecution. We pray for protection, comfort and healing for those on our church prayer list (Read the first names of those on our prayer list). Please add the names of others in need of protection, comfort or healing.
You are invited to offer the names of others in need.
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon us.
Living Savior, you said that you have already prepared a place for us in our eternal home. With all those believers who have passed on before us, we look forward to our home with you in glory. We pray for all who have already entered into your presence, especially (Read the first names of those on our prayer list). Please add the first names of others who have died recently.
You are invited to offer the names of others who have died recently.
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon us.
Lord Jesus, you promise that, if we abide in you, we can ask whatever we wish, and it will be done for us. We offer you our petitions and thanksgivings.
You are invited to offer your prayers and thanksgivings.
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon us.
