From The Vestry

The Vestry are the lay leaders who along with our Priest provide the leadership for our congregation. On this page, you will find more about the role of the Vestry and updates from their meetings, including regular financial updates.

What Is A Vestry?

The vestry is the legal representative of the parish with regard to all matters pertaining to its corporate property. The number of vestry members and the term of office varies from parish to parish. Little Fork’s Vestry is made up of six members. Vestry members are usually elected at the annual parish meeting. The presiding officer of the vestry is the rector. There are usually two wardens. The senior warden leads the parish between rectors and is a support person for the rector. The junior warden often has responsibility for church property and buildings. A treasurer and a secretary or clerk may be chosen. These officers may or may not be vestry members.

The Role of A Vestry

The vestry of an Episcopal church has three primary responsibilities. The first two are managerial: to take care of parish finances and the parish buildings. The third is to choose individuals to fill various positions of leadership and representation: the choice of a rector, the choice of delegates to the diocesan convention, and the selection of others as the diocesan canons may stipulate. The vestry also serves as an advisory council to the rector who by church law is the parish’s chief liturgical and pastoral officer.

Little Fork is a unique and sacred place of worship. If you find God in places of retreat, come worship off the beaten path surrounded by cherry trees. Come to this place to be known by God and known by others. Little Fork is a small intergenerational congregation and the worship reflects that. Children and adults worship together. Work boots and fancy shoes stand side by side to pray and celebrate life’s big moments.

We'd Like to Get to Know You

The Body of Christ exists to care for each other. Sometimes we can be generous, and sometimes we receive generosity. Both are equal acts of faith and grace, and one cannot exist without the other. We thank you for your faith, grace, and generosity.
