Serving Neighbors: Feed My Sheep

With a goal of finding an outreach that is accessible to all Little Fork communicants, the Vestry has affirmed entering into a working relationship with Feed My Sheep Ministry of Northern Virginia LLC. Housed at Bealeton Baptist Church, this food ministry gathers, packs, and delivers food to folks in the northern Piedmont area who are unable to go to other local food banks.
In the first phase of partnership, communicants at Little Fork will ‘adopt’ a food from the list of needed items, and agree to provide at least 12 of that item per month. Items will be brought to Little Fork and volunteers will gather and move them to the Bealeton Hub. Once a month Little Fork volunteers will help pack grocery bags that are then distributed to the folks in need. Whether it’s from poor health or lack of reliable transportation, the folks served by Feed My Sheep Ministry count on the combination of shelf stable and fresh foods and breads delivered by FMS volunteers. A number of the folks being served are living in rural motels and these donations are a lifeline for access to food each month.
Little Fork communicants can support the ministry through ‘adoption’ of a food item, financial support, volunteering to gather and deliver the Little Fork monthly donations to Bealeton for distribution, or helping to pack on their monthly packing day. Long-term goals for Little Fork include gathering information about families closer to Little Fork who might benefit from this kind of food ministry, and eventually aiding deserving folks in Culpeper , Rappahannock and southern Fauquier with monthly food deliveries.
