Prayers of the People August 21, 2022
These are the Prayers of the People that will be used during church this week. We encourage you to use them as part of your personal prayers this week.
Please join me in the Prayers of the People and the congregational response is And restore us O God of hosts.
Surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, and guided by the perfecter of our faith, let us bring our prayers before God, saying, “Behold your children, and restore us, O God of hosts.”
Inspire in your Church the faithfulness of the saints. Following in their footsteps, may we lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and run with perseverance the race that is set before us.At this time we lift to you our Bishops Susan and Jennifer, our Bishop Elect, Mark, our rector, Stacy, and our supply priests Amanda and Jenks.
Behold your children, And restore us, O God of hosts.
Almighty Judge, you rule the earth with your justice and mercy. Save the weak and the orphan; defend the humble and the needy; rescue the weak and the poor; forgive us when we fail to be merciful. We lift before you all those in positions of authority, including our President, Joe, and our Governor, Glenn.
Behold your children, And restore us, O God of hosts.
By your Word, O God, you created the heavens and the earth. By your generosity you continue to cause growth. In your faithfulness you clothe, protect, and sustain your children. We honor you for your creativity and your provision. We thank you for the abundance we have received and pray that our outreach through Feed My Sheep will touch the lives of those in need.
At this time the congregation may share aloud any blessings or thanksgivings
Behold your children, And restore us, O God of hosts.
Bless all those who have taught us to live faithfully. May our lives also witness to your Son Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. We lift to you all those who use their gifts to teach others, as a new school year begins. Fill their hearts with enthusiasm and strength for their working days ahead.
Behold your children, And restore us, O God of hosts.
We pray for all who suffer and struggle especially, (Please read the first names of those on the prayer list).
The congregation may add the names of any in need of healing or comfort
May they take comfort in knowing that you are not a God who is far off but you are very near us, even filling heaven and earth.
Behold your children, And restore us, O God of hosts.
We praise you for all the saints, both famous and obscure, who surround us with their prayers, their encouragement, and their strength. Make us ever mindful of the great company that makes with us our earthly pilgrimage.
At this time read aloud any names of those who have died from the prayer list
The congregation may add aloud the names of any others who have died or are grieving
Behold your children, And restore us, O God of hosts.
