Prayers of the People February 11, 2024
These are the Prayers of the People that will be used during church this week. We encourage you to use them as part of your personal prayers this week.
Let us respond to each of the Prayers of the People with “Inspire us with your light.”
We praise you for revealing Christ’s glory through the transfiguration. Help us continually stand in awe of him, and listen to him, as God commanded.
Ever-living God of light, inspire us with your light.
Lord, we thank you for giving us the light of the knowledge of your glory. May our lives attract others to Christ through reflecting that light.
Ever-living God of light, inspire us with your light.
Lord, we thank you for those whom you have called to serve the Diocese of Virginia. We pray especially for our Diocesan Bishop, Mark, our Assistant Bishop, Gayle, and our Visiting Bishops, Ted and James. Give them wisdom as they study, preach and counsel.
Ever-living God of light, inspire us with your light.
We trust you to encourage our members, and other local believers, as they serve through their professions, in counseling, medicine, welfare, government, law enforcement, emergency services, education, business and the trades. May their words and actions shine the light of Christ in their spheres of influence.
Ever-living God of light, inspire us with your light.
We pray for our governmental leaders, especially Joe our President, Glenn our Governor, as well as our community leaders, that they would lead with justice, mercy and humility.
Ever-living God of light, inspire us with your light.
Lord, pray for your will to be done in the nations of the world, especially where there is suffering through injustice, greed and vengeance. Move in the hearts of leaders to work for peace, justice and welfare, especially those of Russia, Ukraine, Israel and Gaza.
Ever-living God of light, inspire us with your light.
