Prayers of the People January 1, 2023
These are the Prayers of the People that will be used during church this week. We encourage you to use them as part of your personal prayers this week.
Please join in the Prayer of the People. This week’s congregational response is, “Grant our prayers.”
God of love, we thank you for binging glad tidings to lowly shepherds, allowing them to be among the first to worship your Son, Jesus. Help us follow their example by glorifying and praising you for our Savior’s birth.
God of love, grant our prayers.
God of love, we praise you for giving Jesus the name above all names. May we give him the honor he deserves through our worship and everyday lives.
God of love, grant our prayers.
God of love, we thank you for giving each of us a new name and for writing our names in the Book of Life. By your grace, help us live lives that are worthy of this privilege.
God of love, grant our prayers.
God of love, on this New Year’s Day, we ask you to guide us throughout the new year according to your will. May we abide in you more deeply and be more firmly rooted in your love.
God of love, grant our prayers.
God of love, enable those in ministry to be faithful in serving their flocks, especially our Diocesan Bishop Mark, our Assisting Bishop Ted, our Rector Stacy, and our visiting priests Jenks and Amanda. May they feel nurtured and supported in their ministries.
God of love, grant our prayers.
God of love, we pray for all people and places where there is war, injustice or famine, especially Ukraine and Afghanistan. Work in the hearts of world leaders to bring peace and justice.
God of love, grant our prayers.
God of love, lead those in authority in our own nation, especially Joe our President, and Glenn our Governor, and well as the leaders of our communities. May they be given wisdom to lead with justice, mercy and humility.
God of love, grant our prayers.
God of love, we praise you for being the Great Physician. We pray for those in need of healing and their care givers, that you will show your compassion on them, especially those on our church prayer list (please read the first names from the prayer list).
At this time offer the names of any who are ill or in need of healing.
God of love, grant our prayers.
God of love, we thank you that not even death can separate us from your love. Receive those who have passed away recently into your eternal kingdom, and give comfort to all who mourn, especially (please read the first names from the prayer list).
At this time, please offer the names of any who have died or are grieving.
God of love, grant our prayers.
God of love, we trust you to answer these prayers according to your will and for your glory.
God of love, grant our prayers.
