Prayers of the People January 8, 2023
These are the Prayers of the People that will be used during church this week. We encourage you to use them as part of your personal prayers this week.
Please join in the Prayers of the People. Let us respond to each prayer with, “Let your light shine in our lives.”
O God, who by the guidance of a star manifested your only begotten Son to the Gentiles, grant that we who know you by faith may also be drawn to his glorious majesty.
Loving Lord, let your light shine in our lives.
Father God, the star that led the Magi to the stable announced to the world that its Savior is born. Today we live in a world that is still covered by darkness, and still needing to make that journey to the stable door. May our lives and homes reflect your light day by day, as we seek to serve where you have placed us, so that we might be the means through which others can encounter Jesus Christ.
Loving Lord, let your light shine in our lives.
Good Shepherd, give to those who shepherd their spiritual flocks wisdom and guidance, especially Michael our Presiding Bishop, Mark our Diocesan Bishop, Stacy our Rector, and Jenks and Amanda, our visiting priests.
Loving Lord, let your light shine in our lives.
King of Kings, we pray for our earthly rulers, especially Joe our President, Glenn our Governor, as well as our community leaders, that they would lead with justice, mercy and humility.
Loving Lord, let your light shine in our lives.
Lord of love, we remember all who await a doctor’s diagnosis or an operation, as well as those undergoing treatment. We pray for all who are in danger and those in need of healing, especially (read the first names of those on our prayer list).
Members may add the names of others in need.
Loving Lord, let your light shine in our lives.
Eternal King, we give thanks for all who have passed beyond death and been transformed in your glorious kingdom, especially (read the first names of those on our prayer list).
Members may add the names of others who have passed away.
That we like them may come into the fullness of your presence.
Loving Lord, let your light shine in our lives.
At this time, please add any personal thanksgivings or petitions.
Members may add personal prayers.
We thank you that you promise to hear us when we approach your throne of grace.
Loving Lord, let your light shine in our lives.
We rejoice with all who praise you for the revelation you revealed to the Maji. We sing your praises with angels and archangels and all the company of heaven.
Loving Lord, let your light shine in our lives.
