Prayers of the People May 12, 2024
These are the Prayers of the People that will be used during church this week. We encourage you to use them as part of your personal prayers this week.
The congregational response is, “Let all the people praise you.”
Lord Jesus, we thank you for your prayer for your disciples. May your requests be answered in our lives: that God would protect us; that he would give us joy; that he would not take us out of the world, but keep us safe from the evil one; and that he would sanctify us in the truth, his word.
We praise you; let all the people praise you.
We thank you for the assurance of salvation you give to those who have eternal life through faith in your Son, Jesus Christ. May we claim that promise when our faith falters.
We praise you; let all the people praise you.
Lord, the psalmist promises that you surround us with your favor if we delight in your word and meditate on it day and night. We will be fruitful and prosper. Help us immerse ourselves in your word, meditate on it, and apply it to our daily lives.
We praise you; let all the people praise you.
Lord, we thank you for all our area churches, of many denominations. May we be one in Christ, united in our love for you and for our neighbors. Use the unity of the Body of Christ as a witness of your love to a needy world.
We praise you; let all the people praise you.
Father, you are the father of orphans, defender of widows and provider for the poor. Make us aware of the needs in our communities. Work through us to serve others, individually and through Feed My Sheep.
We praise you; let all the people praise you.
We pray for all who called to the ministry, especially Stacy, our Rector, James and Ted, our Visiting Bishops, and Lee, our Diocesan Canon for Racial Justice and Healing. May they, as well as all clergy, lead us faithfully in pursuit of the Church’s mission.
We praise you; let all the people praise you.
Shine your light of love on the peoples of Ukraine, Afghanistan, Israel and Palestine, who are suffering the ravages of war, terrorism, displacement or famine. May you relieve their suffering and establish peace in the world.
We praise you; let all the people praise you.
Remember the needs of our brothers and sisters who are enduring trials, including those who are sick, hungry, imprisoned, unjustly treated or abused. We pray for those on our church prayer list, especially (Read the first names of those on our prayer list). Please add the names of others in need of protection, comfort or healing.
You are invited to offer the names of others in need.
We praise you; let all the people praise you.
We thank you, O God, that by your great mercy, you have given eternal life to all who believe. We pray for our friends who have died recently, especially (Read the first names of those on our prayer list). Please add the first names of others who have passed away.
You are invited to offer the names of others who have died recently.
We praise you; let all the people praise you.
With the assurance that the Lord hears us and answers our prayers, please offer your petitions and thanksgivings to him.
You are invited to offer your prayers and thanksgivings.
We praise you; let all the people praise you.
As Jesus Christ offered his prayer for all who would come to believe in him through the witness of his disciples, may we be faithful to help others enter his glorious family, through our actions and words.
We praise you; let all the people praise you.
