Prayers of the People November 5, 2023
These are the Prayers of the People that will be used during church this week. We encourage you to use them as part of your personal prayers this week.
Let us respond to each prayer with, “hear our prayer.”
Lord, we thank you for all the saints who have gone before us. We thank you that they no longer hunger or thirst, but enjoy your living water. We look forward to enjoying your heavenly home with believers from every nation, tribe, people group and language. Give us the faith and perseverance to follow their example.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for adopting us as your children and making us your saints through faith. Help us respond to your gracious love by growing in Christlikeness, as we deepen our knowledge of Him.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Jesus, our Teacher and Example, help us grow in the values you taught while on earth—poverty of spirit, hunger for righteousness, mercy, purity of heart and peacemaking. On our own, this would be impossible. Work in us through your Holy Spirit to become increasingly like you.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Strengthen and shield everyone who is being persecuted for their faith. By their love and endurance, turn the hearts of their tormentors to Christ in repentance and faith.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray for seminarians, and for everyone who sense a calling to serve you and your Church as a pastor, chaplain, deacon or other church worker. This morning, we especially thank you for our Rector, Stacy, and for Becki, as they minister to our congregation. Enable them to fulfill your purpose, as you have gifted them.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Sovereign Lord, give wisdom, prudence, integrity, mercy and humility to our leaders in government, education, industry, the military, our courts of justice, and to all who hold positions of influence, responsibility and power.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Keep all who suffer in your special care, protection or comfort, especially (please read the first names on our church prayer list). Please name others who are in need of healing or comfort.
You are invited to share the names of those in need.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Lord, again we thank you for your promise of eternal life for all saints. We thank you for the lives of those from our midst who have preceded us, especially (please read the first names of our church prayer list). Please add the names of others who have died recently.
You are invited to add the names of others recently departed.
Lord, help us follow the example of their faith, and comfort those who grieve.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
At this time, please add your own thanksgivings or petitions, in full confidence that the Lord hears and answers.
You are invited to add your thanksgivings or petitions.
In the power of the Holy Spirit, we entrust our thanksgivings and petitions into your gracious hands.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
